BEIJING — State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Zhao Kezhi has called on the country's police to faithfully perform their duties to ensure national political security and social stability.

Zhao made the remarks during his trip to North China's Tianjin municipality on Dec 24 and 25.

He also highlighted the need to promote reform and innovation of public security work and deepen the reform of police operation mechanism.

Zhao demanded strict, procedure-based, fair and civilized law enforcement and called for efforts to forge a high-quality police force.
