Campaign launched to bolster employment, private economy
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, together with five other departments, has asked provincial authorities to take part in a campaign to support private businesses and boost employment.
Local authorities are required to focus on micro, small and mid-sized private companies and self-employed people, as well as job seekers, including students about to graduate from university, veterans and migrant workers, during the campaign that will last from mid-April to mid-May.
Authorities should publicize information about favorable policies for private-owned companies, and organize recruitment events that meet the needs of young people, highly skilled professionals and local companies, the departments said in a notice.
The departments also encouraged online and livestreamed recruitment events, adding that capable regions should organize more frequent recruitment events.
Local authorities were asked to visit companies to learn about their conditions and the challenges they face, and formulate targeted measures to help them get through any difficulties, according to the notice, which also asked them to provide targeted career counseling employment services for varied groups of people.
48 regions selected to take part in consumption project
The State Administration for Market Regulation has selected 48 regions to participate in its pilot project to improve the environment for consumption.
The administration said in a statement that through the project it aims to find targeted ways for different regions in the country to improve consumption.
The key goal of the project is to make consumption more convenient, comfortable and satisfying.
The administration has laid out 17 key tasks for participating regions to further unleash the potential for consumption.
The administration has asked the regions to take into account their own local conditions and focus on issues hindering the improvement of the consumption environment, come up with effective ways to address them, and develop approaches that other regions can draw on.
Ministry accelerates pace of digitalization in education
The Ministry of Education and eight other government departments have issued a guideline to speed up the digitalization of education, as part of the country's efforts to turn itself into a leading country in education by 2035.
Laying out 22 tasks, the guideline said the country should aim to establish a learning society to respond to the latest round of technological revolution and industrial transformation.
The guideline requires speeding up the development of artificial intelligence and digital-related disciplines, and said the country should improve the digital competency of its whole population, especially teachers and students.
The guideline also called for joint efforts between different countries to develop and share digital educational resources by establishing a multilateral and multilevel cooperation mechanism, as well as international collaboration in digital education to nurture talent.
Specifically, the guideline called for the integration of various high-quality online educational resources on the Smart Education of China platform to achieve the goal of a unified entrance portal, shared resources and integrated data.
