BEIJING — China posted a sound workplace safety record in the first 10 months of this year, with the number of both accidents and casualties dropping from a year earlier, according to the Ministry of Emergency Management.
From January to October, the total number of production-related accidents and "particularly serious" accidents fell 15.7 percent and 13.3 percent year-on-year, respectively, the ministry said.
However, there is still room for improvement as more "serious" accidents occurred last month.
The ministry warned of major risks facing workplace safety over the coming months in such areas as fireworks production, winter heating and extreme weather.
