GUANGZHOU — The number of China-Europe freight trains arriving and departing via the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou reached 111 in 2020, a year-on-year increase of 63.24 percent, Guangzhou Customs said on Jan 18.
A total of 10,446 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containers were shipped last year, with a cargo value of more than 3.2 billion yuan ($493 million).
Guangzhou also added five China-Europe freight train routes in 2020, according to the city customs.
The types of goods transported by China-Europe freight trains via Guangzhou have exceeded 700, such as communication equipment, shoes, clothing, leather goods, household appliances, and furniture.
To meet the demands and ensure smooth transport services, Guangzhou Customs has optimized the handling process and streamlined customs clearance.
