HOHHOT, July 27 -- Erenhot, the largest land port on the China-Mongolia border, has seen its fruit and vegetable exports to Mongolia double in both volume and value over the first six months of this year, according to local customs.

Exports during the period totaled 55,000 tonnes, with a value of 100 million yuan (about 14 million U.S. dollars), Erenhot customs said.

About 714 km from the Mongolian capital Ulan Bator, the Erenhot Port in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region handles most of Mongolia's fruit and vegetable imports.

Since the port launched a "green channel" for agricultural products between the two countries in 2018, nearly 422,000 tonnes of fruit and vegetables, worth more than 600 million yuan, have been exported from China to Mongolia.

The Haogang fruit, vegetable, grain and oil import and export park company in the city of Erenhot, Inner Mongolia, can fill an average of 20 containers per day with about 500 tonnes of fruit, vegetables and daily necessities bound for Mongolia.

Feng Zhigang, the company's manager, said the fruit and vegetables produced in China have been growing in popularity among Mongolian residents over the years due to their quality and variety. The port's green channel for exports has also facilitated the trade, while ensuring the goods are fresh and taste good, said Feng.
