BEIJING, Oct. 5 -- China's electronic information manufacturing industry reported steady growth in August, with the added value of major firms in the sector up 5.8 percent year on year, official data showed.
During the first eight months of the year, the added value of major electronic information manufacturing companies edged up 0.9 percent year on year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The increase is up from the 0.1 percent growth in the January-July period. Export, as well as revenues and profits of major firms in the sector, saw signs of recovery compared with the first seven months, according to the ministry.
During the January-August period, fixed-asset investment in the sector grew 9.5 percent year on year, 0.7 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of the investment in all industries, the data showed.
China's major electronic information manufacturers are those with an annual main business revenue of at least 20 million yuan (about 2.79 million U.S. dollars) each.
