BEIJING, Oct. 11 -- China's pork prices logged a week-on-week increase during the week from Sept. 25 to 28, official data showed.

The average price of pork in 16 provincial-level regions tracked by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs came in at 21.22 yuan (about 2.96 U.S. dollars) per kilogram, up 0.5 percent from the previous week.

This figure also marked a 32.5 percent drop from the same period last year, according to the ministry.

Pork demand rose during the period, boosted by the National Day holiday and the Mid-Autumn Festival, leading to higher pork prices, according to the ministry.
