BEIJING, Jan. 5 -- China's e-commerce logistics index was 112.4 points in December last year, down 0.7 points from November, industry data showed on Friday.
The decline was mainly due to the end of online shopping promotions, the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing said. The index was jointly released by the federation and e-commerce giant JD.com.
However, the country's e-commerce logistics index averaged 110.1 points in 2023, 4.2 points higher than in 2022.
In December, the total business volume sub-index decreased slightly to 123.6 points.
The logistics timeliness sub-index continued to fall last month, down 0.9 points from November.
Looking into the future, the federation expects the e-commerce logistics index to stay high in January, helped by multiple factors, including a seasonal surge in spending for the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday.
