During the weeklong National Day holiday, Xinjiang has become a significant destination for foreign tourists seeking cross-border adventure.
Owing to streamlined customs procedures and visa-free initiatives, Xinjiang's border crossings witnessed a record influx of travelers and vehicles, driving the local tourism sector to a thriving peak.
By 5:00 pm on Monday, over 48,000 travelers had been processed at various ports in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, showing a 76.95 percent increase from the previous year, according to data from the regional entry-exit border inspection station.
Concurrently, the check of inbound and outbound vehicles - including trains and aircraft - reached 17,400, marking a 62 percent uptick year-on-year. Hubs like Urumqi and Khorgos experienced a notable surge in passenger traffic, reported CCTV News on Tuesday.
