BEIJING, May 31 -- An article on Chinese modernization by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, will be published on Thursday.
The article by Xi, also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, will be published in this year's 11th issue of the Qiushi Journal, a flagship magazine of the CPC Central Committee.
The report to the 20th CPC National Congress has explicitly stated that Chinese modernization is socialist modernization pursued under the leadership of the CPC, the article stresses. It goes on to say that the Party's leadership has a direct bearing on the fundamental orientation, future and success of Chinese modernization.
Only by unswervingly upholding the leadership of the CPC can Chinese modernization have a promising future; or else it will deviate from its course, lose its soul or even face catastrophic mistakes, the article reads.
It adds that building a modern socialist country is a consistent goal of the CPC, which has been promoted generation by generation, constantly achieving brilliant and remarkable results that go down in history.
The article says that the Party's leadership stimulates strong impetus for promoting Chinese modernization. Reform and opening up is a crucial move to shape China's future and determine the prospects for Chinese modernization, it says.
Since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, the Party has comprehensively deepened reform with tremendous political courage, injecting inexhaustible driving force for advancing Chinese modernization, it adds.
The Party's leadership brings together great strength for promoting Chinese modernization, the article says, calling for closely relying on the people, respecting their creative spirit and pooling their wisdom and strength, so that the advancement of Chinese modernization can progress continuously.
