BEIJING, Aug. 7 -- Chinese flood control authorities on Monday urged intensified rescue and relief work in flood-hit regions of north and northeast China.
Floodwaters in the Haihe River basin are passing through north China's Tianjin, while water levels in some sections of the Songhua and Nenjiang rivers have exceeded their warning marks, according to a meeting of the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, the Ministry of Emergency Management, and several other government departments.
During the meeting, emphasis was placed on intensifying search and rescue operations for missing individuals, facilitating the relocation of flood-affected residents, mitigating agricultural losses and preventing potential secondary disasters.
China has maintained a level-II emergency response in Tianjin and Hebei, and a level-III response in Beijing, Jilin and Heilongjiang.
