Updated: September 15, 2023 17:18 CGTN

Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the largest grape-producing region in northwest China, has ushered in the grape harvest season, with farmers busy collecting ripe grapes to sell across the country. In Baicheng County, more than 500 local farmers and seasonal workers have busily harvested ripe grapes on a 666-hectare vineyard, picking, sorting and packing grapes for shipment all over the country.

The grape harvest season in the county this year is expected to last until mid-October. Xinjiang produces 3.3 million tonnes of grapes per year and is the most important grape-producing region in China. More than 600 varieties are planted in areas across Xinjiang for use as table grapes, raisins and wine grapes.
