BEIJING, Sept. 15 -- China has seen initial results in screening and removing major workplace accident risks nationwide thanks to a special operation launched this year, the Ministry of Emergency Management said Friday.
A total of 191,200 hidden dangers of major accidents have been uncovered during this operation, and 152,900 of them have been rectified, said the ministry.
Over 1,300 provincial working groups and more than 320 ministerial working groups were dispatched to different places to help guide, supervise, and inspect the relevant work during the operation.
More than 14 million yuan (about 1.95 million U.S. dollars) in bonuses has been paid in rewards to the public to tip off workplace accidents.
China has seen sharp declines in workplace accidents and casualties this year, according to the ministry.
