Malaysian PM meets China's police chief

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 4 -- Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim met with visiting Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong on Thursday in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

Wang said this year marks the 10th anniversary of the China-Malaysia comprehensive strategic partnership. The leaders of the two countries reached an important consensus on jointly building a China-Malaysia community with a shared future, charting the course for the development of bilateral relations.

China is ready to work with Malaysia to actively implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen strategic communication, consolidate political mutual trust, and deepen practical cooperation, especially in the field of law enforcement and security, to build a comprehensive and high-quality cooperation model, Wang said.

China is willing to work with Malaysia to jointly crack down on transnational crimes such as drugs, telecom scams and gambling, enhance the ability to prevent and combat terrorism, and safeguard the security of the Belt and Road projects, to better safeguard the building of a China-Malaysia community with a shared future, and bring more benefits to the two peoples, Wang said.

Anwar said Malaysia is willing to actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), promote close exchanges at all levels, and strengthen pragmatic cooperation in law enforcement and security, in order to build stronger Malaysia-China ties.

During his visit, Wang also met with Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, and held a ministerial meeting with Saifuddin Nasution Bin Ismail, minister of home affairs of Malaysia, and signed the meeting minutes.
