China will integrate creative education with teaching activities to enhance students' competencies in cultural understanding, artistic expression and creative practice, according to a circular recently released by the Ministry of Education.

The country launched a campaign earlier this month on comprehensively incorporating aesthetic education in schools to improve teaching and education quality, the circular said.

By 2027, the country is expected to build a mechanism for all students to regularly participate in art exhibitions and displays while creative education courses will be offered to all students majoring in education.

A number of school art studios featuring renowned educators and a batch of national student art groups will be established, with demonstrative schools and zones emerging in the next three years, it said.

Primary and secondary schools should provide diverse and personalized art courses and after-class services to help students master one or two artistic skills at school.

Education authorities are encouraged to combine creative education with moral, intellectual and physical education, exploring and utilizing rich aesthetic teaching resources in various subjects.

To support aesthetic education, schools will build relevant platforms such as small art galleries, museums and theaters to guide students to engage with art venues, it added.
