Farmers in Heilongjiang Province are taking advantage of the warming weather to speed up preparations for spring farming in order to ensure that crops are planted at the optimal time.

Official statistics show that as of March 9, 92 percent of the rice seedling greenhouses had been cleared of snow, and more than 1.8 million sets of agricultural machinery have been inspected and repaired.

Heilongjiang Province is known as China's "grain barn," as its annual grain output has ranked first in the country for 14 consecutive years. In 2023, the grain production in the province reached about 77.88 billion kilograms, accounting for 11.2 percent of the country's total.
