BEIJING, May 22 -- The Ministry of Water Resources and the China Meteorological Administration on Wednesday evening jointly issued a blue alert for mountain torrents in some parts of the country.
From 8 p.m. Wednesday to 8 p.m. Thursday, mountain torrents are likely to hit some areas in the southern part of Fujian and the northeastern part of Guangdong, according to the alert.
It added that mountain torrents triggered by temporary heavy downpours may also occur in other regions.
Localities have been asked to take precautionary measures, including strengthening real-time monitoring and flood warnings as well as preparing for evacuation.
