Over 100 red-crowned cranes arrive in Yancheng
Updated: November 26, 2024 15:34 CGTN

The Jiangsu Yancheng Wetland Rare Birds National Nature Reserve, located in Yancheng, east China's Jiangsu Province, is one of the world's largest wintering grounds for red-crowned cranes. Situated along the Yellow Sea coast, it serves as a crucial stopover on the East Asia-Australasia bird migration route – one of the nine major bird migration pathways worldwide.

Every year, from November to March, 400 to 600 wild red-crowned cranes migrate to the reserve to play, feed and fly freely in its pristine environment. Over 100 cranes have arrived so far, and as temperatures continue to drop, more are expected to join.
