China's police chief meets Cuban interior minister

BEIJING, Aug. 22 -- Chinese Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong met with Cuban Minister of Interior Lazaro Alberto Alvarez Casas in Beijing on Friday.

Noting that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Cuba, Wang, also a member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that China is willing to work with Cuba to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two parties and the two countries, further solidify the ministerial meeting mechanism, enhance personnel exchanges and law enforcement capacity building, deepen practical cooperation in law enforcement and security, safeguard the security and interests of the two countries, and make greater contributions to the building of a closer China-Cuba community with a shared future.

Alvarez, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, expressed Cuba's willingness to further enhance coordination and cooperation with China to jointly address security risks and challenges.
