On Dec 3, workers from China Railway’s Shanghai Bureau inspected the world’s longest bridge, which measures 164.85 kilometers. They work in groups of four or five and go through the structure section by section. Each work day, the workers stay inside the girders for six hours and complete a two-kilometer-long inspection, amid challenging temperatures and lack of light.
High-Speed Railway (HSR) viaduct and tunnel workers take charge of the maintenance of girders, culverts, tunnels and all other constructions related to HSR viaducts and tunnels. They are referred to as “doctors of high-speed railway viaducts” as they always work inside the bridge structure, ensuring safe operation of the trains.
