China’s first domestically produced super-large diameter shield machine commissioned

Workers exchange ideas in the workshop of Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co Ltd in front of the super-large diameter shield “Qiyue”, Oct 15, 2020. Recently, the super-large diameter shield “Qiyue” with completely independent intellectual property rights, was successfully commissioned and rolled off the production line in Pudong district in Shanghai. The total weight of the shield manufactured by Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co Ltd is about 3,200 metric tons, the total length around 99 meters, the main engine’s length is about 16 meters, and the cutterhead’s cutting diameter reaches 14.05 meters.
