Aerial photo taken on June 2 shows the section of the Yarlung Zangbo River in Shannan city, Southwest China's Tibet autonomous region. The city’s local forestry department has built an artificial forest along the south bank of the Yarlung Zangbo River in 40 years, which suffered from sandstorms for a long time. China has been promoting high-standard afforestation projects in this area. Shannan city has seen 656,600 mu (43,773.33 hectares) of ecological security barriers to prevent and control desertification, 401,700 mu of tree-planting afforestation, and 176,200 mu of afforestation via closing off hillsides.
