A fruit trade fair kicked off on Oct 10 in Aksu prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, attracting more than 300 companies and booths to promote their products.
This is the eighth time the prefecture has held the event. This year, more than 1,000 kinds of fruits and other agricultural products have been displayed during the two-day event.
The fruit and forestry production area in Aksu prefecture has reached 300,000 hectares, with a gross output value of 15.7 billion yuan ($2.44 billion). Fruit and forestry production has already become the pillar industry that pushes forward the prefecture's all-around rural prosperity.
Tursun Ali, deputy Party secretary of Xinjiang's Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said the trade fair is an important event held at a key point when the whole region is carrying out supply-side structural reforms in the agricultural sector and taking action to improve the quality and efficiency of the fruit and forestry sector.
Yan Zhiwen, representative of a local fruit production company in Aksu, said he brought more than 10 fruit products to showcase at the trade fair.
"The fair really does help to promote our products, especially the apple juice," he said.
