Shanghai Metro Chongming Line coming together as planned

The “Shentong” shield machine’s cutter head is moved underground to build the Shanghai Metro Chongming Line on Sept 12, 2022. The cutter head weighs 308 metric tons, and the diameter is 13.5 meters. The 148-meter-long “Shentong” shield machine will complete the 7.74-kilometer-long tunnel dredging work at the Yuejiang section of the Chongming Line, marking the first tunnel of Shanghai metro railways crossing the Yangtze River.
