Updated: October 11, 2019 09:06 Xinhua

BEIJING — China has made endeavors to guarantee fire safety of cultural heritages, according to the National Cultural Heritage Administration (NCHA) on Oct 10.

Noting that fire hazards have been seen in many famous cultural relics worldwide in recent years, Song Xinchao, deputy head of the NCHA, said that China has regarded fire safety as the focus of cultural relics protection and conducted supervision in all cultural relics units nationwide, especially historic buildings and museums.

Actions have also been jointly taken by the NCHA and the Ministry of Emergency Management to rectify hidden fire hazards in cultural relics units, Song added.

"Nearly 30 percent of fire hazards were caused by electrical equipment in recent years," Song said at a news conference in Beijing.

"Complete inspections have been conducted in accordance with plans on electronic circuits in cultural relics related units and sites for fireproofing over the years," Song said.
