BEIJING — China plans to reinforce all reservoirs prone to risks by the end of 2025 amid continuous efforts to strengthen water supply and flood prevention, the Ministry of Water Resources said on Sept 30.
Some 19,400 such reservoirs will be renovated, the ministry said.
The ministry will make regular risk assessments on the safety of these reservoirs to eliminate risks promptly, according to the ministry.
China has some 98,000 reservoirs, mostly built in the 1950s to 1970s, with the vast majority being small reservoirs.
