BEIJING — Incumbent and former leaders of foreign countries and international organizations have sent a multitude of congratulatory messages to President Xi Jinping to convey their best wishes on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).
The following is an edited summary of some of these messages.
Australian Governor-General David Hurley said that China can be proud of its remarkable development achievements since 1949, and Australia is committed to continuing its close cooperation with China within the framework of their comprehensive strategic partnership.
President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan said he extends his sincerest congratulations and conveys the delight of the UAE people to the friendly Chinese people, adding that he wishes the Chinese people happiness and good health.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Palestine admires China's great achievements, which have further lifted China's status and leadership in the world's political, economic and cultural arenas.
Guinean President Alpha Conde said that under the leadership of Xi, China has undergone great changes and joined the ranks of the world's major countries.
Thanks to Xi's foresight and global vision, China has established fruitful partnerships with other countries around the globe and made significant contributions to the common prosperity of the world, he added.
Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa said he is amazed by the development experience of China, pledging to continue cooperation with China in international affairs and jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind.
Sierra Leonean President Julius Maada Bio said that China has seen great changes under the leadership of the Communist Party of China in the past 70 years, setting an example for other developing countries across the world. The president wished Xi and China a greater success.
Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said that China has been pursuing reform with firm determination and made remarkable achievements since the founding of the PRC 70 years ago, adding that he sincerely wishes the Chinese people success in realizing their dream of national rejuvenation.
Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen said that no other country has achieved such successful development in such a short time as China has.
China now has the most modern infrastructure in the world, and China's industry and technology are also among the most advanced in the world, he said, adding that none of these achievements would be possible without the tremendous efforts and hard work of the Chinese people.
