BEIJING — China's auto market continued to recover in November with both production and sales hitting a yearly high, data from an industry association showed on Dec 11.
Auto sales rose 12.6 percent year-on-year to 2.77 million in November, the seventh straight month that saw double-digit growth, data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) showed.
On a monthly basis, auto sales rose 7.6 percent last month, while production hit 2.85 million, up 11.5 percent month on month.
Auto sales totaled 22.5 million in the first 11 months, down 2.9 percent year-on-year, narrowing from a 4.7-percent decline in the first 10 months.
Sales of new-energy vehicles (NEVs) in China posted robust growth in November, with about 200,000 units sold, up 104.9 percent year-on-year, according to the CAAM.
The rise came as China unveiled a development plan in November for its NEV industry in 2021-2035 that aims to accelerate the country into an automotive powerhouse.
By 2035, purely electric automobiles are likely to become the mainstream in the sales of new ones, while those used in public transportation will be exclusively electrified, according to the plan.
