BEIJING — Here are the latest developments from China's COVID-19 control and prevention efforts:
— North China's Hebei province logged one new confirmed COVID-19 case on Jan 29. The locally transmitted case was reported in the provincial capital Shijiazhuang.
It was the second consecutive day that the province registered only one COVID-19 confirmed case, down from 90 at the peak of the latest round of COVID-19 outbreak since the start of this year.
— Shijiazhuang, capital of Hebei province, began to resume public transportation services on Jan 30 after new infections showed signs of subsiding.
The city resumed on the morning of Jan 30 the operation of 862 buses on 102 routes, while the bus stops in medium- and high-risk areas will remain closed. The buses are required to cap passenger numbers at below 50 percent of capacity and be equipped with safety personnel to take temperatures and enforce the staggered seating rules.
Taxis are also allowed to hit the roads in certain areas but carpooling services remain suspended.
— Beijing reported one new locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 case on Jan 29. The case was reported in a residential community in Daxing district, where a number of cases have emerged lately since earlier this month.
— Northeast China's Heilongjiang province reported 27 new domestically transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases and six asymptomatic cases on Jan 29.
Ten of the new confirmed cases were reported in Wangkui county of Suihua city, while the others were logged in the provincial capital Harbin. The asymptomatic cases were also in Wangkui and Harbin.
The province has seen a new round of COVID-19 cases since Jan 10.
— Northeast China's Jilin province on Jan 29 reported five new confirmed COVID-19 cases and two asymptomatic cases, all in the provincial capital Changchun and the city of Tonghua.
The province, which started to see new local infections earlier this month, currently has 300 registered COVID-19 patients and 79 asymptomatic cases. Most of them are in Changchun and Tonghua.
