URUMQI — Alataw Pass, a major rail port in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, handled 3,561 China-Europe freight train trips in the first seven months of this year, said local railway authorities.
The figure represents a 35.09 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
The trains transported about 2.7 million metric tons of cargo through these trips, up 47.8 percent year-on-year.
At present, 50 routes pass through this port connecting more than 20 countries including Germany, Poland, Belgium and Russia, with the transportation of more than 200 types of goods.
