NANNING — Baili Liujiang Sports Tourism Demonstration Base and Yulong River Leisure Sports Tourism Resort in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region were listed as national demonstration base for sports tourism, said the local Department of Culture and Tourism recently.
Relying on Liujiang River, Liuzhou city has integrated the sports industry into the Liujiang Scenic area by introducing domestic and international sports events and made water-related sports a new name card for tourism.
Since 2008, Baili Liujiang Scenic Area has held 33 large-scale water sports events, including F1 Motorboat World Championship, International Aquatic-Speed Competition (IAC), Liuzhou International IRONMAN Triathlon and International Inland River Sailing Race.
Yulong River Leisure Sports Tourism Resort in Guilin has actively introduced projects such as aviation sports camp and rock climbing Base, and built 10 raft floating spots and 16.8 km-long ecological trail.
Su Weidong, an official in Department of Culture and Tourism said that Guangxi gives ecological advantages into full play by integrating tourism and sports resources and taking the path of green development.
