A new-type heavy-lift drone independently developed by China successfully delivered 300 kilograms of building materials to an electric power infrastructure construction site located 3,000 meters above sea level on March 25. It was for the first time that a drone transported construction materials in a high-altitude area of the country.

The electric power infrastructure construction project is located in a mountainous area of Lijiang city in Southwest China's Yunnan province. Given the mountainous terrain, traditional ways of transportation by land are challenging and may result in damage to the vegetation along the way. The ground-breaking application of a heavy-lift drone to execute a transportation mission under such a circumstance bypasses these difficulties and offers new approaches for fulfilling future construction tasks in high-altitude mountainous regions.
