International exhibits have started to arrive for the second China International Consumer Products Expo in Haikou, the provincial capital of Hainan province. The expo is expected to accelerate the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port as China continues to expand the opening-up of its economy.
The first batch of products from mainly China's Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam and Japan include cosmetics, perfume, snacks and wine worth about $90,700. They were all disinfected after arriving at Meilan International Airport in Haikou. To improve clearance efficiency, the authorities have opened green channels for the exhibits. Co-hosted by China's Ministry of Commerce and the Hainan provincial government, the expo will cover an exhibition area of 100,000 square meters.
