China has sown 32.8 million hectares of grain this spring, more than half of the intended area, at a faster pace than last year. In Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, the sowing of maize is carried out by unmanned tractors that ensure proper spacing and depth.
Meanwhile, farmers in Yuanyang county of Southwest China's Yunnan province, are revitalizing a traditional farming mode that focuses on biodiversity. Farmers in Zhejiang province have adopted paddy-cum-fish culture in their dozens of hectares of terraced fields for more than 1,300 years.
