The State Council approved upgrading the Nanjing Baima national agricultural technology park into the Jiangsu Nanjing National agricultural high-tech industry demonstration zone, in a circular issued to the provincial government on Nov 26.

The demonstration zone covers an area of 145.86 square kilometers, whose boundary coordinates will be published by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Led by the biological agriculture industry, the zone will grow into an area for demonstrating international cooperation in agricultural technologies, and pioneering agricultural technology innovations in the Yangtze River Delta, according to the circular.

The circular also mandated coordinated development among the agricultural product processing, smart agricultural equipment manufacturing and agricultural technology services, and full implementation of the mechanisms concerning farmland protection and land conservation.
