The State Council has approved a plan on stepping up efforts to promote high-quality economic development in the coastal area of East China’s Jiangsu province, according to an official reply released on Dec 17.

The plan underlines building the coastal urban and rural area with local characteristics, strengthening green development, improving modern infrastructure systems, and cultivating new advantages for two-way opening-up.

The plan also stresses constantly enhancing comprehensive strengths, competitiveness and driving forces of the region, and actively participating in the Belt and Road construction and the Yangtze River Economic Belt, thus expanding potential spaces and giving full play to its role in the integration of Yangtze River Delta area.
