The State Council released a circular on June 6 covering its legislative work plan for 2023.
Province-level authorities (autonomous region or municipality directly under the central government), along with ministries and departments directly under the State Council, are urged by the circular to push forward the study, publicity, and implementation of the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, and to conduct legislative work under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law in the new era.
According to the document, the overall work of the Party and the country should be safeguarded with high-quality legislative services.
Efforts should be made to improve legislative systems and mechanisms, and constantly enhance the quality and efficiency of legislative work.
Accountability should also be reinforced, and implementation of the legislative work plan ensured.
A total of 17 draft laws have been proposed for deliberation by the National People's Congress Standing Committee in areas such as food security, prevention and treatment of infectious diseases, and preservation of cultural relics.
In addition, 17 administrative regulations will be deliberated, along with other legislative projects to be completed.
