The State Council approved a national territorial spatial plan for Guizhou province for the 2021-2035 period, according to an official reply released on Dec 25.
According to the reply, by 2035, the total area of cultivated land in Guizhou should be no less than 50.21 million mu, and the red line area for ecological protection should not be less than 40,800 square kilometers.
Measures will be taken to push forward coordination between Guizhou and development of the western region and high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, said the reply, adding that it would promote its deep alignment with Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, blazing a new path for development of the western region in a new era, the reply said.
Efforts should be intensified for the protection of centrally distributed cultivated land in dam areas, while safeguarding ecological security barriers in the upper reaches of Yangtze River and Zhujiang River, the reply said.
The integrated layout of Guiyang’s city circle will be promoted, and the space for technological innovation and development of modern industry will be ensured, according to the reply.
The reply also stressed intensifying protection for world heritages in Guizhou such as karst and danxia landform areas, and Fanjing Mountain.
