An overall construction plan was approved to build Shanghai into an international business cooperation zone based on its position as a transportation hub, according to an approval released by the State Council on Feb 19.
While implementing the plan, Shanghai's advantages in opening-up and achievements made through the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone’s institutional innovation will provide great convenience for international business communication.
As an international air hub, Shanghai should better connect domestic and overseas markets, making greater contributions to high-level opening-up, the approval said.
The Shanghai municipal government is asked to push forward construction of the zone by effectively implementing the plan. Related departments of the State Council are required to strengthen guidance and services, according to the approval.
