China plans to build high-quality outdoor sports destinations in order to promote the high-quality development of the outdoor sports industry, according to a circular released on Jan 22.

By 2027, a number of relatively mature high-quality outdoor sports destinations will be initially constructed, to form replicable and promotable construction experiences.

By 2030, around 100 high-quality outdoor sports destinations will be built with enhanced facilities, service, management level and international influence, contributing to the increase in the number of outdoor sports participants and promoting the outdoor sports industry to become a new economic growth point, the circular said.

Efforts should be made to utilize high-quality outdoor sports resources in a reasonable way, strengthen the construction of outdoor sports facilities, promote the upgrading of outdoor sports products and services and improve the system of outdoor sports events.

The circular also stressed the deep integration of the outdoor sports industry with tourism, culture, health and education. Feasible ways should be explored for foreign capital to participate in the construction of high-quality outdoor sports destinations through sole proprietorships and joint ventures.

In addition, safety management for outdoor sports should be enhanced, said the circular.
