The State Council has approved a plan for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) period aimed at disease prevention and control.

The plan, which was made public on July 8, pledged to stay committed to the health development path with Chinese characteristics.

It put forward tasks to prioritize people’s health, enhance capacity building in public health, strengthen the disease prevention and control system, and prevent major infectious diseases.

Highlighting high-quality development, the plan said disease prevention and control should provide strong support for safeguarding people’s health, public health security and economic and social stability.
