Premier Li Keqiang held a roundtable meeting with leaders of six international economic and financial institutions via video link in Beijing on Nov 24.
He said China attaches great importance to employment. As long as the more-than-100-million market entities are secured, employment is secured, which is the source of income and consumption.
By strengthening job-oriented policies, encouraging people to get hired in a flexible way and expanding employment channels, the employment situation is basically stable at present, with a total of 10.09 million new urban jobs created in the first 10 months, completing target tasks ahead of schedule, Premier Li said, adding that the surveyed unemployment rate in urban areas dropped to 5.3 percent in October, without any signs of scale unemployment.
People in rural areas work for one another or work in cooperation, thus greatly relieving pressure on employment, he said.
