Premier Li Keqiang went to a Spring Festival market in Dongguo town, Yanhu district, Yuncheng city in North China's Shanxi province, on Feb 7, also the 26th day of the 12th lunar month.

Premier Li stressed sufficient supplies and food safety during the Spring Festival holiday.

He first stopped at a stall selling steamed buns with colorful patterns, learned about local Lunar New Year customs, and then bought two steamed buns decorated with the Chinese character "fu", which means good fortune.

He also bought several boxes of cakes and pastries, and two locally grown apples at nearby stalls.

Apples from Yuncheng are well-known nationwide, the apple seller said.

Hearing that Yuncheng had a long history of woodcut New Year paintings, the Premier bought two paintings of the character "fu".

The Year of the Ox is approaching, and the Year of the Ox and the Year of the Horse are the best time for plowing, as an old saying goes, Premier Li said to people gathering around him, and wished a good harvest in the new year for everyone.
