Premier Li Keqiang pressed for sound flood prevention, disaster relief, and post-disaster recovery and reconstruction while hosting a session in Zhengzhou city, Central China's Henan province, on Aug 19.
Local authorities should fulfill their responsibilities, and draft solid reconstruction plans for severely flood-stricken areas, the Premier said. Efforts should be made to carry out farmland recovery, resume autumn and winter farming, implement housing reconstruction and reinforcement, accelerate repair and recovery of schools and hospitals, and support business resumption of enterprises and vendors.
The disaster in Henan has not ended yet, the Premier noted, saying that there might be heavy rainfall or downpour in the following days according to the meteorological department.
Local authorities should stay on high alert, as there had been autumn floods in the area’s history. All-out efforts should be made to ensure sound flood prevention and emergency operation, to secure safety of people's lives and property, he added.
