BEIJING — Chinese authorities have recommended 19 sports travel routes for the upcoming National Day holiday, providing holidaymakers with a range of outdoor exercise options for their downtime.
The routes, listed in an announcement by the General Administration of Sport of China and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, have been published on the websites of the two bodies.
Sports travel meets people's increasing demand for outdoor activities and is in line with the idea of respecting nature, conserving resources and protecting the environment, according to the announcement.
Tourists are recommended to jog at the Beijing Expo Park in the northern suburban district of Yanqing in Beijing, climb the Wugong Mountain in East China's Jiangxi province and sail a boat in Beidaihe, a seaside resort in North China's Hebei province, among other routes.
China celebrates its National Day on Oct 1 each year. This year will see the Mid-Autumn Festival fall on the same day, overlapping with the week-long National Day holiday and thus extending the holiday to Oct 8, making eight days in total.
