Sixteen Chinese cities have been named as green freight distribution demonstration cities, according to the Ministry of Transport on Aug 10.
The country started the demonstration project in 2018, aiming to implement a new urbanization strategy, promote cost reduction and increased efficiency in the logistics industry, and push urban freight distribution toward green and efficient development.
After investigations by technical teams, on-site inspections by groups of experts, and public notices, sixteen cities have achieved the anticipated goal: Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Hengshui, Erdos, Suzhou, Xiamen, Anyang, Xiangyang, Shiyan, Changsha, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Luzhou, Lanzhou and Yinchuan.
Moreover, the Ministry of Transport said that other cities should accelerate efforts to set up an "intensive, efficient, green and intelligent" freight distribution service system, and build strong transportation networks to support economy, and achieve the goals of peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality.
