Updated: October 6, 2021 19:20 Xinhua

BEIJING — The Yellow River, China's second-longest river, has seen its third flood of this year due to continuous rainfall, the Ministry of Water Resources said on Oct 6.

After recent heavy rains, the amount of water flowing per second at the Tongguan hydrologic station in Northwest China's Shaanxi province has increased to 5,090 cubic meters as of 11 pm on Oct 5, the ministry said.

The ministry has maintained a level III emergency response, the second-lowest level, and has asked local flood prevention authorities along the middle and lower reaches of the river to enhance their patrols of flood control projects.

Seven working groups have been sent by the ministry to the provinces of Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan and Shandong to aid flood prevention and control efforts.
