BEIJING — The Chinese mainland recorded 23 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases on Jan 21, the National Health Commission said on Jan 22.
Jan 21 saw 10 new local cases in Beijing, six in Tianjin, four in Henan, and three in Guangdong, according to the commission.
Across the Chinese mainland, a total of 40 imported COVID-19 cases were also newly reported.
No new deaths from COVID-19 or new suspected cases were reported on Jan 21, according to the commission.
As of Jan 21, the Chinese mainland had reported 105,547 confirmed cases, including both local ones and those arriving from outside the mainland. Currently, 3,061 patients are still under treatment.
A total of 4,636 patients had died as a result of the virus on the Chinese mainland since the pandemic. The toll has remained unchanged for almost a year.
The death toll increased from 4,635 as of Jan 24, 2021 to 4,636 the following day.
