China's freight volume transported via railways, waterways and postal services from January to June is expected to exceed the volume transported during the same period in 2019, the vice-minister of transport said on June 27.
The nation's transport network is generally running smoothly, with no temporary closures of freeway toll stations and service areas, Zhao Chongjiu told a news conference on June 27.
COVID-19 epidemic control and prevention measures placed on truck traffic on main roads have been eased, he said, noting that there were 7.48 million trucks on national freeways on June 24, an increase of 18.3 percent compared with the same period in 2019.
Efforts have been made to end the gridlock on the national transportation network that has been caused by outbreaks in some areas since late March.
