BEIJING — Vice-Premier Sun Chunlan stressed intensified efforts in promoting aesthetic education in the new era on Sept 6.
Sun, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during a research tour to the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA).
She talked with the senior professors at the CAFA, among whom is the centenarian legendary fine arts master Zhou Lingzhao.
Sun called for enhancing theoretical research of aesthetic education and building a well-constructed and modern discipline system of fine arts of higher education.
Calling for greater confidence in Chinese culture, Sun asked CAFA faculty and students to take a people-centered approach to art creation and produce more quality and appealing works in carrying forward China's fine traditional culture.
Sun also underlined the importance of embedding aesthetic education in all aspects of school education.
She urged schools of various levels to shore up support for aesthetic education in terms of teaching resources and manpower.
